The Plushie Project – Painting & Ceramics Summer Camp ($265.00 + GST)
July 13th – July 17th, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 12:15 PM

Bring your favourite cuddly character to life as a one-of-a-kind work of art!
Over this five-day camp, students will draw inspiration from a beloved stuffed animal—whether it’s their own or a Jellycat-style favourite—and transform it into a ceramic figurine. Using hand-building techniques, they’ll learn how to recreate soft, rounded forms in clay, capturing the charm and personality of their plushie in a smooth, polished finish. Once built, participants will explore underglazing to add colour and bring their piece to life.
Alongside their sculpture, students will also create a character-inspired painting, placing their plushie into a fun and imaginative setting. Through this process, they’ll develop both their 3D and 2D skills while experimenting with colour, composition, and storytelling.
This camp is the perfect opportunity to build new skills, explore different mediums, and create a meaningful piece inspired by something they already love.
What to Expect:
- Day 1–3: Character Creation & Building
- Using their chosen plushie as inspiration, participants will begin with observational sketches to study shape, proportion, and key features. From there, they’ll learn basic hand-building techniques to recreate their plushie in 3D, focusing on soft forms and capturing its unique character in clay.
- Day 3–4: Character-Themed Painting
- Students will bring their plushie into a fun, imaginative setting through painting. They’ll explore foundational techniques to create a colourful background and place their character into a vibrant 2D scene full of personality and storytelling.
- Day 5: Underglazing & Finishing Touches
- The final day will be dedicated to underglazing and adding colour, bringing their ceramic piece to life and completing their project with thoughtful finishing details.
Following the conclusion of the camp, all ceramic projects will be bisque fired and clear glazed for a smooth, finished look. Once completed, pieces will be ready for pick-up, and families will be notified as soon as they’re available.
Camp Details:
